Windows That Last Longer
Office temperature...a key for worker productivity
An ergonomic study conducted by Cornell University demonstrates how worker productivity can be linked to office temperature. Alan Hedge, professor of design and environmental analysis, performed a month-long study that showed that an increase in office temperature from 68° to 77° Fahrenheit reduced typing errors by 44 percent and increased typing output by 150 percent. Hedge concludes that raising the temperature to a more comfortable thermal zone saves employers about $2 per worker, per hour.
Windows that are energy efficient & durable
Rising energy costs are putting tremendous pressure on your profitability. While building tenants bear individual costs for heat and air conditioning, you know that it's difficult to sell or rent any property that is not sufficiently energy efficient.
As a company focused on sustainability, BASF recommends windows with warm edge thermoplastic spacer (TPS) technology. TPS represents the most sustainable solution for double-glass windows, compared to other spacer technologies (click here for BASF's eco-efficiency analysis). Using TPS technology contributes to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ certification. LEED buildings are reported to command higher occupancy rates and rent premium versus peer buildings.
As Energy Star® performance levels demand better performance of windows in 2012, TPS improves the energy efficiency of windows to help meet these new standards. So whether you're constructing a new building or upgrading an existing one, you should insist on windows that:
- Help lower energy costs
- Last longer and minimize maintenance and replacement costs
- Fit the style of your building - and can be designed in virtually any size and shape
- Are better for the environment than alternative technologies
Your tenants will appreciate the comfortable climate TPS creates by reducing cold drafts in winter and conductive heat in the summer. TPS technology enables even temperature distribution, which helps improve building occupant comfort. TPS also has damping qualities that help reduces sound decibels, which helps lessen noise coming from outdoors.
If you are considering triple glazed windows, TPS can help make these systems more affordable without sacrificing quality.
Warm edge TPS technology is now available from several leading window manufacturers. To find a list of window brands that use TPS, click here.
