PLURASAFE®PAG WS, WI, WT Fluids
PLURASAFE® Fluids
PLURASAFE®PAG fluids are polyalkylene glycol derivatives
that cover a broad range of viscosities and solubilities. Variations
in molecular weight, alkylene oxide or ratios of alkylene oxides
produce a wide variety of fluids with differing properties. In
general, they are chemically and thermally stable: they have low
pour points and are not corrosive to metal.
Nomenclature
The letters WS, WI and WT mean water-soluble, water
insoluble and water thickening. The number following the designation
refers to the approximate viscosity in Saybolt Universal Seconds
(SUS) at 38° C (100°F).
Applications
Lubricants - When properly formulated, PLURASFE®PAG
fluids are excellent high temperature, compressor, gear, rubber,
textile, fiber, mill and calendar lubricants.
Hydraulic Fluids - PLURASAFE®PAG fluids can
be used unblended as hydraulic fluids for boundary lubrication
and low temperature applications or formulated with water and
additives for wear and corrosion protection.
PLURASAFE®PAG fluids have many specialized
uses, including chemical intermediates, defoamers, demulsifiers,
plasticizers and solvents for both inks and dyes.

Blending
Two PLURASFE®PAG fluids can be blended to obtain
a fluid of intermediate viscosity. When blending, it is preferable
to use two products with viscosities close to the viscosity desired.
To obtain the percent of the lower viscosity fluid
required for blending, the following equation should be used:
%L = ( log Vh - log Vd / log Vh - log Vl ) x 100
Where:
Vl = Viscosity at 38°C of the lower viscosity fluid
(SUS)
Vh = Viscosity at 38°C of the higher viscosity fluid
(SUS)
Vd = Viscosity desired (SUS)
L = Fluid with lower viscosity
