Where to use - Shotcrete
Shotcrete typically requires the use of a supplementary cementitious material to control the rebound of the spray-applied concrete, and BASF MetaMax is engineered specifically for the job. The extra fine particles of MetaMax makes the cement paste more cohesive and helps hold the aggregates in place when concrete is sprayed onto a surface at high velocity. This means that spray-applied concrete can be applied in thicker layers and can adhere more tenaciously to overhead surfaces.
MetaMax continues to work even after the shotcrete is applied. Concrete with MetaMax gains strength more quickly, reach higher compressive strengths, and less porous so they resist attack from sulfates, chlorides and freeze-thaw.
And compared to other supplementary cementitious materials, MetaMax is white, so it improves the appearance of concrete and makes it easier to match colors.
