Where to use - Mortars, grouts and concrete repair
BASF MetaMax® is recommended for use in most grouts, mortars, and cementitious patching compounds. Its “extra fine” particle size gives cementitious mixtures extra “body”. This allows patching compounds to be applied in thicker layers and with less sag. The cohesiveness also improves the anti-washout resistance of mixtures placed underwater. These applications also benefit from the increased strength and decreased permeability MetaMax EF can provide.
For example, Consolidated Edison, New York City’s utility company, used MetaMax in cellular concrete used to repair and protect pile and pile caps on a 600 feet long, 50 years old dock on the East River. The MetaMax metakaolin worked as an anti-washout aid by forming a gel-like matrix in cellular concrete that limits cement wash-out as the concrete comes in contact with water. Read more »
And in testing performed for a major producer of tile setting materials, MetaMax was shown to control efflorescence that can occur when tiles are grouted in cold weather. Read more »
