Paper filling
In papermaking, clay fillers are used to improve paper's smoothness, opacity and affinity for ink. BASF> high-performance paper pigments are used to fill newsprint, supercalendered papers and groundwood specialties such as catalogs, coupons, phone books, directories and greeting cards. For example, both KWW™ and MCS™ pigments are specially designed for wet-end filling applications where maximum filler retention and economy are required. Ansilex® 93 pigment is a high-brightness, low-abrasion product used to improve brightness, opacity, blister resistance and ink receptivity without the loss of sheet or print gloss. Other BASF products, such as Luminex® , Excaliber®, Nufil® and HT® , also can be used to improve opacity, brightness and other sheet qualities at extremely competitive costs.
