Roof and asphalt coating

Properties such as thixotropic viscosity build, storage stability and good dispersion are vital for top-quality roof and asphalt coatings. BASF Attagel® specialty attapulgite products offer all these benefits, plus they provide excellent film build and reduced water sensitivity and good durability.

Whether for roofs, foundations, underbody coatings or other asphalt or coal tar coatings, Attagel® thixotropes provide cost-effective performance, especially when combined with reinforcing fiber materials. For white coatings, ASP® extender pigments reduce costs by lowering titanium dioxide pigment levels for acceptable opacity and durability.

BASF also provides inorganic color pigments with extreme lightfastness for roof coating applications. Colors range from bright yellows to blues and greens, as well as blacks and browns that retract infrared radiation, resulting in cooler roof temperatures. Called Meteor® and Meteor® Plus, these products provide exceptional weatherability and durability, even under the harshest conditions.
