BASF to increase prices for key latex products sold into the U.S. and Canada paper markets

CHARLOTTE, NC, February 1, 2010 – Effective Feb. 15, 2010, or as
contracts allow, BASF will increase its prices by up to $US 0.04 per wet
pound in the United States and Canada for all Styronal® styrene-butadiene
latex products, all Acronal® styrene-acrylic latex products and all Basonal®
multi-monomer latex products used in the paper market.

This action is being taken as a result of increases in raw materials, in particular styrene and butadiene, coupled with freight related increases and higher energy costs.

Acronal, Basonal, and Styronal are registered trademarks of BASF SE.
