FLORHAM PARK, NJ, October 12, 2009 -- With the coatings industry facing a period of unprecedented change, BASF will present solutions that can help formulators for architectural, industrial, and automotive applications be successful at the Western Coatings Conference and Show, Oct. 25-28, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“With rapidly evolving regulatory requirements and emerging demand for coatings that meet both environmental and functional needs, formulations for many products will have to change,” said Uwe Liebelt, Group Vice President, Dispersions and Pigments, for BASF in North America. “BASF can help coatings manufacturers meet this challenge with sustainable, eco-efficient solutions that meet or exceed process requirements.”
Visitors to BASF booth 204 will be able to learn about the ingredients, chemistry and know-how to develop new products and make formulation changes to existing products without sacrificing functionality.
“Our recent acquisition of Ciba - plus our past integrations of Johnson Polymer and Engelhard - has added people, technology and products that complement BASF’s existing offerings. BASF can build a team with a full portfolio of technological solutions to customize solutions for our customers,” said Liebelt.
BASF will deliver three technical paper presentations during the conference:
- David Story, Technical Manager, Pigments, will present “Infrared Heat Reflecting Pigments for a Changing World;”
- Nilanjan Chakrabarti, Ph.D., Development Manager, Pigments, will offer a talk on “Low-odor, Low-Volatile Active Compound (VOC) Universal Colorants for Architectural Coatings;” and,
- Latoska Price, Technical Manager, Pigments, will discuss “Ultra-Low VOC Colorants in Architectural Paint.”
BASF experts will be available throughout the show to discuss how the company’s broad portfolio of resins, binders, latex, pigments and effect pigments, colorants, specialty additives and minerals, and systems meet specific applications and customer needs.
