CHATTANOOGA, TN, October 2, 2009 – For 25 years, BASF’s Chattanooga, Tennessee, sites have partnered with Orchard Knob Elementary School to help enhance the educational curriculum offered to students. This year, BASF donated four microscopes and 50 pairs of safety goggles for the school’s new science lab.
“Orchard Knob Elementary faculty and staff are excited and pleased to be partners with BASF,” said Marthel Young, Principal of Orchard Knob Elementary School. “The donation of the microscopes to our Science Lab is a wonderful addition this year. The teachers in grades 3, 4, and 5 will use the microscopes to enhance the science curriculum. Our continued partnership with BASF has been a wonderful asset to the student learning at our school.”
“We are proud to continue our educational outreach activities with Orchard Knob Elementary School,” said Rob Gagliano, Manager of BASF’s Chattanooga sites. “Along with donating science equipment and funding various projects, BASF employees donate their time and talent to foster students’ interest in science.”
Approximately 116 employees work at BASF’s two Chattanooga sites, which make products used for adhesives, carpet backing, foams, paper coatings and asphalt modifiers.
