Coatings Highlights

BASF is a leader in automotive OEM and component coatings in North America and the world. Given the global demands of automotive manufacturers, BASF's full-range coatings portfolio and worldwide product availability are of strategic importance to this industry. Our manufacturing facilities around the world are ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and QS-9000 registered, assuring the same levels of quality, service and environmental commitment anywhere in the world that BASF products are sold.

Our automotive coatings research and development efforts, which focus on economical and ecological benefits, will result in advanced products for the marketplace over the next few years. The BASF Integrated Process, featuring powder slurry technology, a low volatile-organic- compound, environmentally-friendly coating showcases our innovative advancements.

Strategies for the continued optimization of our business processes include a worldwide "best practices" project to identify and implement the best ways to manufacture paint and achieve the lowest cost and highest quality.

The Automotive Refinish regional business unit of BASF continued to set the industry standard for innovative products, including our Glasurit® , R-M® and Limco® brands.

BASF offers two leading edge tools for precise color matching. The SmartScan™ spectrophometer remains one of the most accurate

systems available and our COLOR-MAX™ system features thousand of color cards. Both tools work as stand-alone systems or in concert as our SmartTrak® color computer system, which BASF continually updates and enhances.

BASF's VisionPLUS™ program features an array of educational, information and marketing services designed to improve the productivity of collision repair facilities. These services help collision shops improve their business operations and profitability.

The General Industrial Coatings regional business unit is a leading supplier of general industrial coil coatings and now has a North American supply base for powder coatings. Other leading edge systems include ultraviolet/electron beam-cured coatings and foil coatings.
