Company recognized for promoting the advancement of women in the workplace

MOUNT OLIVE, N.J., May 10, 2004 -- Jeanne Thoma, Sales Manager for BASF's Pharma Solutions business in North America, will receive a 2004 Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award from the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) of Central New Jersey. The awards will be presented on May 13, 2004, at the Hilton Hotel in East Brunswick, N. J.

Thoma was recognized for her outstanding work in helping BASF's Pharma Solutions business establish a foundation for future pharmaceutical ingredients business in Puerto Rico.

"I am very honored to receive this award," said Thoma, a BASF employee for 15 years. "The TWIN Award is given to women who have excelled in their field and made significant contributions to industry, and to be included in that group is a great compliment."

"She is a strong leader with great business acumen. She is intelligent and a real contributor to BASF's success," he said.

In addition, BASF will receive a TWIN Award for implementing policies and practices that encourage high achievement by women and promote equal advancement opportunities for women of diverse backgrounds.
