Hoover® chose BASF’s Terluran® GP-22 acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer (ABS) resin for its new line of Hoover® WindTunnel™ T-Series upright vacuums due to the physical properties and excellent processing characteristics of the resin. The material has an exceptionally light natural color, which provides excellent color stability, colorability and color consistency. Terluran® ABS resin also provides high gloss advantages, so the end-use product looks like new after every use. BASF and INEOS to establish a new leading global styrenics company called Styrolution

Wood composite deckboard manufacturers combine wood flour, thermoplastic resins (polyethylene, polypropylene), and other ingredients in an extruder that heats, melts, and mixes the recipe. The melt is pushed through a die and subsequently cooled, forming a continuous board which is then cut to length to make the deckboard.

BASF SE (Ludwigshafen, Germany) and INEOS Industries Holdings Limited (Lyndhurst, UK) have announced their intention to combine their global business activities in styrene monomers (SM), polystyrene (PS), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), styrene-butadiene block copolymers (SBC) and other styrene-based copolymers (SAN, AMSAN, ASA, MABS) as well as copolymer blends into a new joint venture called Styrolution. A letter of intent was signed by the two companies on November 29, 2010. The establishment of the joint venture is subject to approval by the appropriate antitrust authorities.
