Herman Miller's Embody™ chair wins furniture category at NPE's International Plastics Design Competition
BASF’s entry into the International Design Competition at the National Plastics Expo wins the furniture category.
On June 24, the category winners for the National Plastics Expo design competition were announced and Herman Miller’s Embody™ Chair won the office furniture category. This award recognizes the Embody chair for unique design and innovation in process, design, tooling, material, finishings and market.
BASF was proud to sponsor the Embody chair on behalf of our partners that helped to make this innovative chair a reality. Congratulations also go to Cascade Engineering and ITW Dahti, molders, for their strong role in making the unique design a reality and the award possible.
It was a unique event in NPE history, with the trade show now accompanied by the largest plastics educational program ever held and the first international design competition which accumulated over 10,000 votes. BASF is proud to have collaborated with talented companies to bring home the award for best design in the furniture category. Over 1,900 exhibitors and more than 43,000 attendees were able to view and vote for their favorite plastic innovations on display in a special pavilion. This was the first of its kind as those who could not attend were able to cast a vote on-line. Of course, the NPE trade show was the core event, and they reported a high level of strength that contrasts with the current economic malaise and promises a better business climate to come. Plastics professionals from nearly 19,000 companies from 101 countries came to NPE 2009 during the past week to discover innovations, make connections, plan purchasing, and—often enough, according to some exhibitors—close deals on the spot.
