Overview

Responsible Care® is a set of initiatives undertaken by BASF Canada and all other members of the Canadian Chemical Producers' Association (CCPA), to help safeguard employees, the environment and the communities in which we operate.

The Responsible Care Codes set an ethic for the way chemical companies in Canada do business. The focus is on the protection of people and the environment through the responsible management of chemicals, chemical products, processes and operations. The goal is continuous improvement in all aspects of the chemical industry's environmental, health and safety performance with an openness in communications about its activities and its achievements.

Our operations reflect our commitment to the Responsible Care Codes:
Product Stewardship
Community Awareness & Emergency Response (CAER)

The Responsible Care program requires all member companies to re-verify that management processes previously verified are still in place or have been improved. The re-verification takes place three years after the successful completion of a company's Responsible Care-in-place verification and will end once it has produced a successful conclusion.

In 2007, BASF Canada successfully completed its Responsible Care Re-verification. The complete report Re-verification for BASF Canada details the opportunities, improvements, "extra miles", best practices and findings that require action before the next audit in 2010.

Your feedback on the results of our re-verification is appreciated. Click here for a five-question survey.
