Liquid and/or gas phase reactions of the respective precursors with ammonia or substituted amines, usually under increased pressure (up to 300 bar) and usually with proprietary BASF-catalysts (see diagram below). With reactions in the liquid phase, conversion can occur on a fixed bed, or in suspension.
