Acrodur®

Acrodur® acrylic binder
Product benefits

The unique chemistry of Acrodur resins provides a number of benefits to end users. Among these are:

  • capability to produce nonwovens and molded composites with excellent mechanical, chemical, and thermal resistance,
  • ability to produce thermoplastic prepregs and other semi-finished goods with long storage life via multiple impregnation methods,
  • capacity to produce high-reinforcement levels in nonwovens and molded composites, which
    • lowers the non-renewable content and reduces the carbon footprint when natural reinforcements are used,
    • provides the ability to tailor surface properties (porous or smooth/contiguous),
    • reduces or eliminates the need for coupling agents, further reducing VOCs, fogging, and odor
    • produces lightweight, high-performance products
  • flexibility to control surface finish and permeability,
  • versatility to produce cleaner, greener products using a safer, cleaner production process
    • VOCs are reduced or eliminated during processing and end use, since these resins completely free of
      • hydrocarbon solvents,
      • formaldehyde,
      • phenol,
      • isocyanate,
      • and other VOC sources
    • cleanup is easy and solvent free (just use water)
    • no special handling for workers or air-handling systems required during processing for
      • safer working conditions and
      • less harm to the environment
    • all without sacrificing performance
